Alexandria is an independent city in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Located along the Western bank of the Potomac River, Alexandria is approximately 6 miles (9.6 kilometers) south of downtown Washington, DC.

Founded in 1749 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Alexandria is nationally recognized for its abundance of 18th- and 19th-century architecture, historic attractions, award-winning restaurants and eclectic shopping. For an old city feel a must see is Old Town Alexandria where you can stroll along the sidewalks to shop, eat lunch or stop into a pub and have a drink.

Well known Alexandria's public high school, T.C. Williams, and its legendary former football coach, Herman Boone, were featured in the 2000 motion picture Remember the Titans.
