The Montgomery Agricultural Reserve lies just north of the City, making it possible to visit local farmers and artisans who live in this unique protected area.
Further a field, Gaithersburg makes a great jumping off point to explore the nation’s capital. Washington is just 30 minutes away by car. Or better yet, use the world class Metro subway system that ends in Gaithersburg to travel throughout the D.C. metropolitan region. The surrounding Maryland and Virginia countryside offers many Civil War sites to explore. And where else will you find Atlantic beach resorts, the mountains of the Shenandoah Valley and the ski areas of Western Maryland and Pennsylvania, all within a three-hour drive?
