How do you do marketing for open houses?
Posted on Sunday, September 16th, 2007 at 1:31 pm.Believe it or not, the most important thing when marketing an open house is.... balloons.Yes, balloons.Balloons are much more important than ads in newspapers or on Craigslist. We always ask people how they found our open house when they stop by, and after thousands of responses over various types of marketing, we've come to the conclusion that the vast majority (90%+) find the open house via street signage. But a sign is not enough, because people see signs all the time and often confuse the "open house" signs for the "for sale" signs that are always up. So an "open house" sign by itself doesn't prove very effective. However, when you have balloons on the sign, then it's a whole new ballgame. People know that balloons are temporary, and so they realize that whatever is happening where those balloons are is happening right now. Hence the importance of having balloons on the open house sign (click image to enlarge).
We do also post your property on CraigsList (never heard of it? You'll love CraigsList. You can visit it here.) every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Here's a link to one of our CraigsList ads.
Common search terms are "HUD-1", "Easement", "Foreclosure", etc.
